Revit Export: Working with View Templates

Applying a View Template for export

When exporting a 3D view from, LightStanza will apply the View Template settings automatically.  If there is no View Template applied to the selected 3D view, the LightStanza Minimal Export template will be applied automatically.  The plugin also includes a 2nd template labeled LightStanza Default export, which includes additional geometric detail (e.g. furniture).

Any custom View Template can also be used to export to LightStanza.  The 2 built-in templates specifically include the following categories.

Special Note for Linked Models

By default, View Template settings are project specific, and do not automatically propagate to linked models.  To propagate the View Template to any linked models, be sure to enable the "V/G Overrides RVT Links" option in the View Template settings.

Note, that with the "V/G Overrides RVT Links" option turned off, you can still export to LightStanza.  The resulting export will likely have too much geometry for an efficient lighting simulation.  And you will see warning text displayed in the export dialog, "Link visibility must be configured correctly in the view template manually".  However, the export will proceed as normal.
